Rs10 lac robbery in Kalamboli

Kalamboli police have registered a complaint against Harihar Jasmukh (32), originally hailing from Orissa and a servant with Ramprasad Narayanprasad Malpani (30), a businessman and resident of Sector 3 E, Kalamboli for robbing Malpani of cash and valuables worth Rs 10.73 lakh.

According to police, Malpani family owns a building (K-L6/ 11) wherein the second floor and the third floor is connected from inside. The complainant's (Ramprasad Malpani) parents stayed on the second floor. Taking advantage of the fact that Malpani's parents are out of station, Jasmukh managed to go to the third floor where Malpani stayed and robbed valuables worth Rs 10.73 lakh.

Jasmukh went missing after the incident and that's when the family got to know about the theft, confirmed an official from Kalamboli Police Station. Malpani also has an office at their house and the maximum amount of cash was stolen from there. When contacted, the family members were reluctant to provide any details about the theft. "Jasmukh was with the family since a very long time and so no one thought that he would indulge into such an act. The society consists of middle class families and nobody here has a full-time servant at their homes so, no body is actually panicked after the incident," said a neighbour on condition of anonymity adding, "Before this, robberies have happened at the neighbouring building but it was not done by the maids or servants."

PSI Panchal from Kalamboli and his team have already left for Orissa to nab the accused. "We are in Orissa now and are hopeful to nab the accused soon," Panchal said. The case has been registered under section 381 of the IPC.

Earlier, Munnibai (45), a Turbhe village resident was arrested last week for robbing Sharum Mahendra Mane of valuables worth Rs 1.85 lakh. The entire family was out for Ashtavinayak Darshan and had instructed their maid that they are going out and kept the keys with their neighbour. According to police, Munnibai took the keys of the house from the neighbour and robbed the house. The family learnt about the same only after they saw the valuables missing and lodged a complaint with police.
