RCA distributes relief assistance in Yemen
Sana'a, Dec. 25, 2008 -- A convoy of trucks carrying 115 tons of relief assistance, including food items, winter cloths, blankets and other essential items, has arrived in this Yemeni town of Seyun as part of a humanitarian programme launched by the UAE Red Crescent Authority to help alleviate the sufferings of the victims of the flood that hit Wadi Hadramaut in recent time.
The RCA delegation accompanying the convoy distributed the relief assitance to the affected families in the town of Shubam.
According to the Deputy Secretary General for Relief Affairs and Projects at the RCA, Salim Al-Junaibi, who is also the head of the delegation, the RCA was moving ahead with its relief programme in support of the affected people in Yemen, as part of the efforts to implement the directives of President H. H. she8ikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He said the move was under the support of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the personal supervision of Deputy Prime Minister and RCA Chairman, H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, adding that the programme started soon after the flood hit the region. (WAM/SA)
