Warne asks Lee to ‘let all hell break loose’ on Proteas

Shane WarneMelbourne, Dec 24 : Spin legend Shane Warne has advised under pressure Brett Lee to go into the Boxing Day Test and just let all hell break loose.

Lee was well below his match-winning potential in Australia's record loss to South Africa in Perth, and Warne through hi column in the Daily Telegraph, is the latest player to give Lee a vote of confidence ahead of the second Test.

"His mindset though has to be attack, not on keeping it tight. It has to be to take wickets and bowl fast rather than worry about the economy rate. Sure bowlers hunt in packs and his partner, Mitchell Johnson, was outstanding in Perth with 11 wickets," Warne wrote.

"That was a great achievement, but Binga is the leader of the pack and he must show it in Melbourne. I want him to let the horses out and consistently hit the
150km/h-plus mark in pace, not hover in the high 130s. Let them have it, Binga," he added.

"I was disappointed in some of the speculation and criticism the Australian team received. Let''s remember it was just the first of three Test matches, not a series loss. Both teams played outstandingly well, but South Africa were just too good over the five days - there is no disgrace in being outplayed," Warne wrote.

Warne said rather than nailing the Australians, all credit should be given to Graeme Smith and his men, as it really was an amazing chase and the record books back that up.

As a result, the Melbourne Test match is now as much a test of character as it is of skill. Australia have been challenged and put on notice by the Proteas - they are here to play and want the mantle of No. 1.

It really is a test of the Australian team's spirit, hunger and attitude - how driven and hurt by the loss they are, both individually and as a group.

Australia need to defend the Melbourne turf like they never have before and get in the face of the tourists. The boys need to show quickly that they have put Perth behind them, flushed it down the toilet and moved on, Warne wrote. (ANI)
