No. of Indian students going to US falls, rises for UKA larger number of Indian students, applying in colleges abroad, are now giving more preference to UK over America. Fresh data shows that in 2010, UK has issued 57,500 student visas while US has issued a little less than half of it. Education consultants explain the recent sequence of race attacks as the reason behind the fall just as the number of students preferring Australia has also gone down following the recent racial attacks.

These attacks have again changed the perception that had developed very recently that a degree Down Under was equally good. Parents are no more ready to send their children to Australia after these unfortunate attacks.

The other possible reason could be that US is still expensive than Europe. In her report, Institute of International Education director (research and evaluation) Rajika Bhandari has observed that Indian students might have been declined enrolment.

In spite of it all, US still boasts of the largest pool of Indian students with presently one lakh Indian students in its campuses.
