The Japanese auto major, Nissan has recently announced the launch of its much-awaited hatchback Micra in the Indian market. Priced between Rs 3.98 lakh and Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the product has so far got over 2,000 bookings in the Indian market.

As the bookings had been opened on 25 May and the response was pretty encouraging, the company believes that the product will be able to bring high volumes on its door from the domestic circuit.

The automobile giant also plans to export the product to several destinations. As the company have managed to achieve about 85% localization for the Micra, it is believed that the product will be able to give a tough time to the competition.

With a 1.2 litre petrol engine and 75bhp, it is the only car in its segment to offer a driver airbag even to the driver in the base version as well.

While the deliveries are expected to begin soon after the launch, it is believed that products matching the likes of Swift, Polo and i20 will have to face tough heat from the recently launched Micra.
