Nikon launches new D7100 DX-format camera
Photography major, Nikon has announced the launch of its new Nikon D7100 DX-format digital SLR camera.
The new Nikon D7100, which is an update over the D7000, comes with a 51-point AF system, and continuous full resolution shooting at 6 fps. It features a 3.2-inch LCD screen on the rear and the optical viewfinder has an OLED display. The camera will have DX-format (APS-C) 24.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, which does not utilise the optical low pass filter, allowing users to take sharper and clearer pictures than other cameras with similar resolution capability, according to the company.
The D7100 comes with much improved autofocus with the help of the Nikon Advanced Multi-CAM 3500DX autofocus sensor module. The company says that the camera offers professional-level performance from 51 focus points or 15 cross-type sensors including quick subject acquisition and phase-detection AF in really dark surroundings.
The new Nikon D7100 also comes with an ISO sensitivity of 100-6400 with the help of a EXPEED 3 image processor. As for the video recording, it is capable of recording Full HD (1920 x 1080) recording at frame rates of up to 60i/50i and 30p/25p/24p. The device measures 5.3 x 4.2 x 3 inches and weighing 23.8 ounces.
The Nikon D7100 will be priced at about US$1,200 and will go on sale in March.
