Tokyo  - Tokyo stocks extended their winning streak into a day in early Wednesday trading, recovering the 8,000 mark after overnight gains on Wall Street.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average jumped 57.73 points, or 0.73 per cent, to 8,006.86.

On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was higher against the yen but down against the euro. (dpa)
