Nicole Kidman to play world''s first post-op transsexual

Nicole Kidman to play world''s first post-op transsexualWashington, Nov 10 : Aussie actress Nicole Kidman is all set to play the world’s first post-op transsexual in the movie ‘The Danish Girl’, with actress Charlize Theron.

Kidman will also be producing the movie, which is based on the true story of Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

The story is based on how the marriage of the two artists changed dramatically after Einar stood in for a female model that Greta was set to paint.

Their portraits became very popular in Copenhagen during the 1920s, and Greta encouraged her husband to adopt the female guise, and what had started as just a harmless game, ended with Einar undergoing a transformation.

The change led to the landmark 1931 operation that shocked the world and threatened the couple’s love.

Anand Tucker will direct the movie, which has been adapted by Lucinda Coxon from David Ebershoff’s 2000 Viking bestseller, whose debut novel of the same name is a fictionalized account of the Wegeners’ true story.

Gail Mutrux, Anne Harrison, Linda Reisman, Kidman and the head of her Fox-based Blossom Films shingle, Per Saari, will produce the feature.

Blossom has several projects in development, including a biopic of bisexual singer Dusty Springfield set to star Kidman.

Pre-production has begun on the indie film, but no details on a principal photography start date have been disclosed. (ANI)
