Wellington - New Zealand discount variety chain store The Warehouse has pulled its entire stock of 1,200 tents off shelves in its 80 stores nationwide to be airfreighted to China as shelter for earthquake victims, it announced Friday.

All the tents were originally manufactured in China and are being sold at a substantial discount to the Chinese government following an urgent request from Beijing's embassy in New Zealand, the chain said.

The tents range in size to accommodate two to eight people. (dpa)
