Musharraf will not consider judges' reinstatement
Islamabad, Dec 8: President Pervez Musharraf has said that he is willing to bring in a new ‘interim set-up’ in response to the opposition parties’ Charter of Demands (CoD), but added that the deposed judges will not be reinstated.
According to sources, Musharraf’s aides have been keenly monitoring the spadework of the committee formed by two opposition alliances, the APDM and the ARD in chalking out the CoD.
So far, the CoD has not been made public, but it reportedly contains 15 demands.
Sources said Musharraf was given a detailed briefing by his aides on the CoD.
The Nation quoted sources as saying that the Musharraf’s camp is all-out to avoid a boycott of the elections, and in this regard diplomats of friendly states are also playing the role of mediators.
The polls boycott threat by the PML-N or any other party would not bother the presidential camp, sources said but if all opposition parties opted for it, it would certainly add to the current political crisis, they added. (ANI)
