Musharraf’s London hiatus cost Pak tax payers 6.30 mn rupees

Pervez Musharraf Islamabad, Feb 29: President Pervez Musharraf three-day visit to London cost the national exchequer 6.30 million rupees.

Senator Azam Swati of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal informed the Senate through a point of order that the London hotel where Musharraf stayed charged Rs 6.30 million for three nights, 17,000 pounds sterling per night (Rs2.10 million).

Musharraf stayed in London for two days without any official engagement and returned home after meeting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the last day of his stay, the Dawn reported.

Senator Enver Baig of PPP informed the Senate that a number of former ministers who have lost elections were still in possession of official bulletproof cars and police squads, and stressed that the government should retrieve these facilities from them. (ANI)
