Mukherjee calls for comprehensive strategy to deal with terrorism

New Delhi, Feb 12 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today called for comprehensive strategy to effectively deal with the menace of terrorism.

Inaugurating a conference on security governance and global economic crisis here, Mukherjee said terrorism sponsored from across the border will be eliminated with all the means at India''s command and no effort will be spared in this regard.

"The government is aware that security is not only of paramount importance in the life of the nation but also deeply intertwined with the running of the business and that is why terrorist from Pakistan chose targets that included centres of Business and global corporate visitors in Mumbai," he added.

Referring to the global economic meltdown, Mukherjee called for crafting a new international economic order to put economy on a sound footing.

He renewed India''s commitment to work with foreign partners including the G20 framework for devising such an economic order.

"Despite the impact of the economic crisis, there is a need to sustain foreign trade, revive foreign investment and generate domestic demand to maintain the growth rate," he said.

He urged the captains of industries to work with precaution, as government is committed to provide adequate space to the corporate in a healthy and competitive environment. (ANI)
