Materne North America Corp. voluntarily recalling GoGo squeeZ applesauce pouches

Materne North America Corporation has decided to voluntarily recall its Traverse City facility-produced non-organic GoGo squeeZ applesauce pouches because of the potential adulteration from food product residue.

The issue was highlighted when the Michigan State Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) carried on an inspection of the company’s production facilities.

The GoGo squeeZ applesauce pouches that have been recalled by the company have published Best Before Dates between 12/4/15 and 3/4/17. However, GoGo squeeZ Organic products or the recently launched GoGo squeeZ YogurtZ weren’t the part of the recall, and had no impact.

The production of non-organic GoGo SqueeZ applesauce pouches in the company’s Traverse City facility has been suspended by it, and the investigation is in progress to detect the source of the problem. People have been told to check their pantries before packing lunched for their little ones this week.

The report said that food product residue has been found in two product pumps in one of their factories during the Michigan State Department of Agriculture and Rural Development inspection. It read, “While it is possible the food product residue may have been incorporated into finished product, we test our applesauce extensively, and at this time, we have not seen evidence of this in our pouches”.

So far, there have been no reports of any illnesses linked to this issue. However, GoGo squeeZ has acted cautiously by recalling affected pouches from shelves. Until now, it isn’t clear whether the recall will be extended to other states including California or not.
