Maruti Close To Achieve 1 Mln Mark In Production & SalesMaruti Suzuki India is ready to hit one-million-mark in manufacturing as well as sales in 2010.

Maruti will become the first Indian car manufacturer to attain the said milestones.

In a statement, the company said, "The company has forecast a production of 10,27,000 units in 2009-10, which means that the output will exceed the one-million-mark on both the calendar-year and fiscal-year basis.".

Mr. Mayank Pareek, marketing head of Maruti Suzuki, stated, "Domestic sales and exports should cross a million units this fiscal."

Maruti, which registered a selling figure of 8,26,592 units till Jan 2010, wants to sell 85,000 units on an average by March 2010 to reach the miraculous figure.

In 2009, India's biggest car manufacturer sold 79,190 units in Feb and 85,669 units in March despite recession, and the company anticipated the circumstances to get better at this time.

"We have a market share of about 54.8 per cent in passenger cars and have been in a leadership position despite the launch of cars by other companies," Mr. Pareek added.

Maruti has decided to make investment of Rs 1,700 crore in its Manesar plant to strengthen its overall capacity to 5,50,00 units by the next two years from 3,00,000 units at present.

The company said that it will raise the overall production capacity of its Gurgaon facility to 1.2 million by 2012 from the existing capacity of 7,00,000 unites presently.
