Maoists camps along Indo-Nepal border in Uttarakhand

Dehradun/Mahindernagar (Nepal), Jan 3: Many Maoist camps are operatingIndo Nepal Border right under the nose of the administration along the Indo-Nepal border in Uttarakhand.

Interestingly, not only men but also women are being trained for Maoist activities in these training camps.

Besides being taught how to handle and operate guns, they are being brainwashed with 'anti-India' propaganda.

Senior Uttarakhand police officials say that all necessary steps are being taken to tackle the problem and forces are being deployed in the bordering villages.

Subash Joshi, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand said: "These border areas are basically forest areas. We have started a strict vigil for the past few days. Further, the officers out there have been asked to give us details of camps."

Meanwhile, the residents say that they are well aware of the Maoists camps in and around the border areas. Many residents sympathise with the Maoists.

"These people are basically trying to help the poor and they are happy with them. But for the rich people, it is a matter of concern, they are afraid. These people (Naxals) are all set to emerge powerful and that is why they are working hard since the past 8-10 years," said Shanker Nepali, a resident, Mohanagar. (ANI)
