Dehradun, June 8 : India's future operational experiences will invariably be joint operations where a degree of synergy among the three services will be a key determinant of the final outcome, the Indian Air Force (IAF) chief, Air Chief Marshal N. A. K. Browne, said Saturday.
Addressing the gentlemen cadets at the passing out parade of 132nd Regular and Allied Courses at the Indian Military Academy here, Air Chief Marshal Browne impressed upon them the need to broaden their horizons and interact and make friends with their counterparts from the other services.
Rahul Gandhi to visit Dehradun tomorrow

Dehradun, Mar 7 : Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will visit Uttarakhand capital Dehradun on Friday to take stock of the party''s affairs in the state.
Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Dhirendra Pratap was quoted by media, as saying that all preparations for Gandhi’s visit are complete, and added that state party leaders and activists were looking forward to Gandhi’s arrival with enthusiasm.
According to reportsd, Gandhi will arrive in Dehradun at about 9 a. m. He will meet party office bearers in two sessions at different city hotels. (ANI)

Dehradun, Jan. 26 : Anti-graft activist Arvind Kejriwal has dared industrialist Mukesh Ambani to serve a defamation notice to him and his colleague, Prashan Bhushan.
Last year, Arvind Kejriwal and his colleague Prashant Bhushan accused the Reliance Industries honcho of hoarding natural gas, exerting pressure on the government to favour his businesses and for profiting from cosy relationships with a string of government ministers.

Stylist Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Sunday night tied the nuptial knot with childhood friend and hotel management student Sakshi Singh Rawat at a private ceremonial occasion in a lavish farmhouse in Dehradun.
The wedding ceremony was strictly a private affair though crowds of media people waited outside the site to captivate the entry of visiting guests as well as the mood. The ceremonial occasion was attended by close friends and some teammates.
Reports said that Dhoni was wearing a black sherwani.
Kumbh Mela: 150 doctors, 31 hospitals to control swine flu

Dehradun, Jan 7 - Uttarakhand has set up 31 temporary hospitals and trained at least 150 doctors to check any swine flu outbreak during Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious congregations in the world that begins Jan 14.
"The central government has already inspected the arrangements. They have also given us a truckload of masks for tackling swine flu during the congregation," Pankaj Jain, chief nodal officer for swine flu in Uttarakhand, told IANS.

Dehradun, Dec 29 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' Tuesday sought a high level probe into the charges levelled against veteran Congress leader N. D. Tiwari, who quit as Andhra Pradesh governor Saturday after allegations of his involvement in a sex scandal.
"Considering that such wild allegations have been levelled against a person who has always been held in high esteem, it would be in the fitness of things to get these probed," Pokhriyal told media persons here.
Dehradun: CBI files chargesheet in MBA student encounter case

Dehradun, Dec 23 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in the MBA student Ranbir Singh fake encounter case.
The CBI accused 18 police personnel as responsible for the alleged fake encounter in the chargesheet, which was filed five months after the incident.
In the chargesheet filed before CBI Judge Narendra Dutt here, the agency framed the murder charges against seven police personnel under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 302.

Dehradun, Nov 28 : Police Department officials have tightened the security here, after some well-known organisations and public schools in the region received threatening letters from alleged terrorists.
The top brass of the police has sounded a high alert over the past two days after nation''s prime petroleum exploring agency, the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) and the Doon School received threatening letters.
The ONGC had received a letter on Wednesday (November 25) that had threatened of serial blasts in the city and had bore the names of dozen institutions and offices as targets.

Vicknesvaren Murugesu, who works in New York, flew from the United States to Gangotri – a popular Hindu pilgrimage town along the Himalayan range on September 18 for a pilgrimage retreat, reports The Star.
The 33-year-old Vicknesvaren who is from Kuala Lumpur, trekked up to Tapovan, located about 25km from his rest house in Gangotri along with an Indian porter and was scheduled to return to his base two weeks later.

Dehradun, Oct 16 : Chinese lights have flooded the market during ''Diwali'' leaving the bulb industry of Dehradun on the verge of closure.
Already, 90 percent of the bulb factories have already closed down with the rest 10 percent struggling hard to stay put.
The bulb makers hope that the State Government would come to their rescue and save the factories from closure.
Dehradun encounter: SIT arrests three policemen

Dehradun, Oct 14 : A special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three policemen on Wednesday who were allegedly involved in the fake encounter killing of MBA student Ranbir Pal in Dehradun in July.
The SIT team arrested Sub Inspector G D Bhatt and two other policemen and is yet to file a chargesheet against them.
Twenty-two -year-old Ranbir, an MBA student, who was also working for a private bank, was shot dead by Dehradun Police on July 3 in the Ladpur jungles.
Corbett National Park to have Tiger Protection Force from January 2010

Dehradun, Sep 17 : The Uttarakhand Government has decided to set up a Tiger Protection Force to prevent poaching in the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
The Field Director of Corbett National Park will head the force, which would be operational from January 2010.
The Corbett Tiger Reserve is considered as one of the most suitable habitats for tigers and other endangered species.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Sep. 13 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has reportedly informed the Central Government about possible incursions by the Chinese in his state.
Pokhriyal, quoting reports from locals in Rimkhim in Chamoli district, said the Chinese entered the state on September 5 and left behind biscuit packet wrappers and cigarettes.

Ranbir Singh encounter in Dehradun was a fake: CBI

Dehradun, Aug 5 : In its initial findings, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed that the encounter in which a 24-year-old MBA student Ranbir Singh was killed by Dehradun police was a fake.
The CBI-SIT team reportedly visited the site and recovered over 10 cartridges that were lying underground. This clearly suggested that the bullets were fired from close range with Ranbir was lying on the ground.
The visit took place on August 1, and the CBI-SIT team recorded the statements of 14 people related to the case.
