United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will meet President Pratibha Patil to seek her approval in order to constitute the new administration.

This was settled collectively at a gathering of the UPA leaders in which Sonia Gandhi was re-elected as its Chairperson.

During a gathering of the Congress and its pre-poll associates at her home, Sonia`s name was suggested by DMK chief M Karunanidhi followed by Trinamool Congress (TC) supremo Mamata Banerjee.

The alliance has already got support of various parties and it has now the backing of about 315 parliamentarians, much greater than the needed 272 for a majority in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
