Mahindra Holidays Q1 Net Profit Declines 60%A lower registration of members has affected Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India's top and bottom-line of 23.6% and 60.6% respectively for the three month period ended June 2010 as against 2009's corresponding figures.

As per the declaration made by the company, Mahindra Holidays made a total income worth Rs 101 crore and a net profit of Rs 13.29 crore as compared to Rs 135.30 crore and Rs 33.74 crore made in the same period of the previous year.

The company has added 3,945 new members, which takes the total number of members to 113,829.

A company official said that the company has scrapped the 60 month equated monthly installment plan for enrolment membership.

He stated that the members recruited during the three month period of the current year is 1,494 lesser than what was enrolled in the same period of 2009 thereby impacting the number of top line.

Chairman Arun Nanda said, "During the quarter, the management initiated a number of measures to strengthen its acquisition process and took various steps to enhance customer satisfaction. These initiatives while impacting the numbers in the short run will benefit the company in improving productivity."

On the fall in sales and marketing expenditures, he said that the main concentration is now on getting prospective client lead than other ad expenditures.

The company, which lifted up approximately Rs 176.88 crore thru public, has spent about Rs 68.73 crore and the remaining has been invested in mutual funds.

In continuation with the company's entry into jungle tourism, the company plans to have a 25 apartment resort in Ranthambore in Rajasthan. (With Inputs from Agencies)
