Leaders Inter Milan enjoy comfortable win at Lecce
Rome - Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Portugal veteran Luis Figo and Serbian midfielder Dejan Stankovic all found the net Sunday as Serie A leaders Inter Milan crushed Lecce 3-0.
Lecce's defence lent the towering Ibra a hand on 12 minutes by botching their offside trap and allowing him to score his 14th goal of the season, firing home a deadly right-footer off a feed from Esteban Cambiasso.
Figo, 36, secured the win in the second half, heading home a cross from Davide Santon, a young defender who is just half his age, while Stankovic made it 3-0, also with a header.
As Inter pressed ahead from the start, Stankovic missed an early chance, heading over an inviting cross from Ibra, but Inter had to thank their Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar for a prodigious save that prevented a Lecce equalizer on 18 minutes.
Defender Guglielmo Stendardo was left unmarked at the far post and aimed a good downward header, but saw Julio Cesar dive to push the ball away.
The southern-Italy hosts pushed immediately after the break but Figo made the game safe on 71 minutes and Stankovic made it 3-0 with eight minutes to go to move Inter on to 53 points from 23 games.
In later action, AC Milan look to remain six points adrift when they welcome bottom side Reggina at the Giuseppe Meazza, which hosts a mouthwatering city derby against Inter next weekend. dpa
