Mumbai, Mar 18 : Students of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Dadar, created a new Guinness world record for making the world's largest sushi mosaic, a Japanese dish in Mumbai.

A group of 20 students made 15.16 square metres of Sushi mosaic, which consisted of whopping 5,814-sushi pieces.

The previous record was made by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) at the Golden Terraces Shopping Centre in Zlota, Warsaw, in Poland and it measured 14.84 square metres.

Raj Saxena, Principal, IHM was elated that the students of his college were able to create the world record.

"We have broken the Polish record using most of the ingredients, which came from Norway. So world has become really small and we are glad to be the part of this globalisation," said Raj Saxena.

Chef Vernon Coelho, who supervised the team's effort, was very happy at the spirit of teamwork displayed by students assigned with the job.

"It involved a lot of planning. When we got together a batch of students and then each one was assigned a task," said Vernon Coelho.

The people from various countries were present to witness of the global record being created.

Sushi is a Japanese delicacy made basically with rice. It can be vegetarian or non-vegetarian. In non-vegetarian sushi fish is used as the main ingredient and for the vegetarian sushi the basic ingredients are radish, baby corn and cucumber to name a few.

The record-breaking Sushi mosaic consisted of Maki Sushi, Inari Sushi, Nigiri Sushi, Uramaki Sushi, and Chirashi Sushi. The salmon used in the record-breaking Sushi mosaic was imported from Norway. (ANI)
