Lamborghini to begin production of Urus SUV

Lamborghini to begin production of Urus SUVItalian automaker, Lamborghini has said that it will soon begin production of its new Urus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Lamborghini had showcased the model in the previous year and the company has now approved it for production as it marks 50th anniversary during the 'Grand Giro'. Audi boss Rupert Stadler confirmed reports that the first SUV from Lamborghini will go into production and will be based on the same platform as Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne.

Bolognese-based automaker is planning to produce around 3,000 Urus SUVs per year. The company is planning to sell the models in the United States, Russia, China and the Middle East. The new model will allow Lamborghini to expand its presence in the new segment in various countries. It will help strengthen the brand in the global market as it marks the 50th anniversary.

The company revealed the Lamborghini Egoista Concept, which is the final version among the three models joining the Veneno and Aventador Anniversario, designed to mark the company's 50th anniversary this week. The project backed by Walter De Silva, Head of Design for the Volkswagen Group is only enough for one man and the name in Spanish means selfish.
