Kingfisher plans for overseas flights

Despite the downturn in aviation industry, the Kingfisher Airlines is planningKingfisher plans for overseas flights for some international flights in this year. Kingfisher is reported to be interested in starting flights to London followed by San Francisco, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Middle-East.

Company chairman Vijay Mallya said that Kingfisher will go slowly on acquisition plans of domestic sector airlines. He confidently said that Kingfisher will make good position on international routes. He also showed his wide-bodied Airbus A330-200 at the Farnborough air show in England. Kingfisher is interested to start non stop flights from Bangalore to other international destinations.

It also wants to start non stop service from Bangalore to San Francisco. It is an already crowded route and company is thinking from economic point of view to launch its services from this route.

Kingfisher will launch Bangalore-Heathrow direct and Mumbai-Heathrow direct services between August 31 and September 3 in this year. British Airways is the only competitor of Kingfisher on Bangalore-Heathrow route.

Kingfisher’s owner Vijay Mallya was also interested in Spice Jet but he found the deal expensive and finally countered the deal. Ultimately, American private equity firm W L Ross & Co invested $80 million in Delhi-based airline Spice Jet.
