Kasab hasn’t contracted dengue: authorities confirm
Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist from the 26/11 Mumbai attack, hasn't contracted dengue, emerging reports stated.
Various newspapers quoted Arthur Road Jail Superintendent Suresh Karnik saying Kasab has been suffering from fever and not from dengue.
A national daily quoted the superintendent saying, "The tests were negative. He was running high fever and had been weak for two days. However, the tests clearly show that he had normal fever."
The superintendent added that the terrorist's fever came down on Sunday and he was supposed to return to his regular diet soon.
The confirmation followed recent media reports that Kasab had somehow contracted dengue despite being lodged in a completely secure cell. Dr T P Lahane, dean of JJ Hospital, where the tests were carried out, also confirmed that there was no scare of dengue in the prison.
Kasab has been sentenced to death for his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai attack by the apex court of India, but the execution of the capital punishment has been pending as it is still awaiting the outcome of the application to the President seeking to reduce the sentence.
But, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs as well as Maharashtra Government recommended that the terrorist shouldn't be shown any mercy.
