Kapil Advices Sreenath To Concentrate On The Game
Who isn’t well aware of the temperament of pacer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth? In fact all of us! Keeping this in mind the former India captain, Kapil Dev has passed a piece of an advice for Sreenath that the player should focus more on cricket and rather use his aggression to improve his performance.
When the former captain was asked about his feelings for Sreenath, he jokingly inquired, “About cricketer or actor Sreesanth?” But soon he remarked, “I wish he concentrates more on cricket. Aggression is good but it should be on the field. When you represent the country, performance has to be there and I wish he performs on the cricket field.”
The proposal made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to professionalize the selection procedure in India, was also well received by Kapil.
In the latest recommendations put forward in BCCI’s working committee on Sunday, it was mentioned that Rs 2.5 million each should be paid to the selector and the existing honorary set-up needs to be scraped. Other than this, the selector should not be an office-bearer of the BCCI or any of its affiliated units and also that in order to qualify for the job, the selector should have retired from international cricket at least ten years ago.
Kapil commented, “This is certainly good for the game in India. But the proposed suggestion of the candidate retiring at least ten years ago to be a selector is debatable.”
When the man was asked about the success of the Indian Cricket League (ICL) as compared to the Indian Premier League, Kapil exclaimed that he is happy that the two are being compared.
He further added, “If you look into the marketing aspect, yes, the IPL leads. But there are other aspects other than marketing that need to be compared. Mind you they (BCCI) are here from several decades whereas ICL is just a year old.”
