Percept Picture Company and T-Series launched the music of their forthcoming film ‘Aashayein’ in a quite unconventional manner at an event held at the Bandra Fort amphitheatre yesterday evening.

The excited evening had performances from musical jodi Salim-Suleman who have given music for the film. This was Salim’s first live performance ever as he sang the famous Aashayein song from Iqbal. Giving live performances to songs from the movie were Shankar Mahadevan, Shaukat Amaanat Ali Khan, Mohit Chauhan of Silk Route fame and Zubin Garg.

But the main attraction of the evening was when hot and dashing John sang the song “Ab Hai Ujala” from Aashayein along with other singers.

The musical evening celebrated the theme and spirit of Aashayein.

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the film also stars Sonal Sehgal, Farida Jalal, Girish Karnad. The music is available on T-Series. The movie is slated for release on 20 June.

While commenting on the movie, John said, “Aashayein is a beautiful film. Today, the audiences have become much more intelligent and smarter. They want to see good films. We would like the film to unfold in front of the audiences. It is not just a film. It is a journey. There are a lot of personal experiences that we have brought in Aashayein. I had lost a lot of weight for the film. I had to take a seven months break after shooting the film to put on some of the weight back again.”

About the musical event he said, “This kind of a music launch will be used by a lot of films in the future to launch their album. This is just a soft launch for people to know that there is a beautiful film called Aashayein with great singers and great music. Salim - Suleman have done a great job. We just thank everybody for putting this film together.”
