It’s all over for Buchanan
The Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan-owned IPL cricket franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has fired John Buchanan who was working as head coach for KKR, on Wednesday.
This decision of KKR of removing Buchanan has come after a lot of controversies and poor performance of KKR in the Indian Premier League. Presently, Khan is in the UK for shooting of a film and he confirmed this decision through an email communiqué.
KKR spokesperson said that apart from head coach, Andrew Leipus, the team's physiotherapist, Matthew Mott, the assistant head coach and Adrian Le Roux, team's trainer could also be fired.
Buchanan was criticized for his multiple captain's theory during IPL-2 and former captain Sourav Ganguly was replaced by Brendon McCullum but poor performance of KKR continued in the second edition of IPL as the team finished at 8th spot.
The KKR franchise is owned by SRK, Jai Mehta and Juhi Chawla who bought the franchise for $75 million. Ricky Ponting, Brendon McCullum, Sourav Ganguly and Ishant Sharma are the big names present in the KKR team and this is the most expensive franchises with annual cash outgo of between Rs 60-75 crore each season.
