Islamabad sees Commonwealth readmission next month: Pak Foreign Minister
Islamabad, Apr 21 : Pakistani Foreign Minister on Monday said that he expected the Commonwealth to readmit his country to the 53-nation group next month.
The Commonwealth group of former British colonies had suspended Pakistan for the second time in November last year after President Pervez Musharraf had imposed a state of emergency in the country.
“There is a CMAG (Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group) meeting... on May 12, and I am expecting a very positive outcome,” Qureshi told a joint news conference with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband.
“I want Britain to be a leading voice calling for Pakistan's re-entry into the Commonwealth's family,” the Dawn quoted Qureshi, as saying.
Miliband said that he support Pakistan's re-entry into the group. (ANI)
