Indian companies will counter visa fee hike- Says Narayana Murthy Founder of Infosys N. R. Narayana Murthy has said that he has confidence in the Indian software companies to fight the stress of the recent increase in the price of visa by the US government and that they will face it with a much more competitive spirit, resorting to innovation as their weapon to increase their productivity.

He also said that the US government had every right to determine its policy and that it must be accepted and competed with to find success under the new dispensation. Innovation can be used as an important weapon to enhance their strength and revenue productivity.

Narayana Murthy made these statements last night at the felicitation of J. G. Krishnayya, a renowned academician and researcher who also founded the Systems Research Institute (SRI).

The newly hiked fees of the H-1B and L1 visas were made effective from 14th August, and are expected to add to the yearly pressure load of USD 200 million on the software firms in India.

Mr. Murthy further stated that there is an urgent need to encourage the research institutions in coming up with remedies for the issues and problems of large-scale systems of the common people.
