India To Hold Nuclear Discussions With IAEA In October
According to the news reports, India is likely to hold discussions with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for precautions relating to its nuclear agreement with the United States.
The sources said that the Indian administration would like to hold talks with IAEA after the middle of October.
India-specific safeguards are crucial for the operationalization of the nuclear deal and New Delhi is required to hold negotiations with the IAEA by the middle of next month if it is to get the agreement cleared by early next year.
A source involved in India’s strategy planning said, “None of the milestones will be compromised.”
The Indian government is facing the worst situation because of resistance from the Left, whose backing is vital for its endurance, to the nuclear agreement with the United States.
Left leaders have advised the administration against going ahead with deal-related discussions with the IAEA.
