Huge monkey off our back: Collingwood
With the clinical victory in the finals of the Twenty20 World Cup, now England has all reasons to celebrate after more than three decades of long wait. This was the maiden ICC event title in 35 years for the English team.
The skipper Paul Collingwood has said that a huge monkey has been off the back with the victory in the final. He has expressed his contentment over this as even England is the grooming den of Cricket but unfortunately the English team could not be able to win any of the prestigious titles throughout.
This has been the first ever Word Cup for the country and the first ever major international event that England has owned. It had lost in three World Cup finals in the year 1979, 1987 and 1992, and the Champions Trophy final in the year 2004.
The skipper has said this misfortune as a huge monkey. He has also said that it is a very special moment and the team deserved it as they are the first English team to win a World Cup.
