HP to offer its latest Mini Netbooks without Linux
It has come to light that HP, the well known computer manufacturer will ship its upcoming Mini netbook models with Windows only dropping the Linux operating system.
Reportedly, the new HP Mini 1000 netbook and HP Mini 700 would be equipped with Windows XP only. The customers will however get a choice between Windows XP and Vista, if they opt for HP Mini 2140.
It should be mentioned here that till now, the HP Mini 2133 netbook could be bought by the customers with pre-installed Linux on board. So, all the netbook fans who want to go for Linux could opt for the Acer Aspire One that does not only provides a Linux version, but is also the top seller in the UK.
The versions of Linux indeed provide some extra benefits. Far less storage is needed as compared to Windows due to the free available operation system. `Free' also indicates that manufacturer could ship their netbook models cheaper, which is a major unique selling point for them.
Citing all these plus points related to Linux, we wonder why Hp is offering its netbook family without Linux. Though there has been no official announcement so far, it has come to vision that Hp thinks, "Windows would be more suitable for netbook devices than Linux and better address the market and consumer needs within the UK market."
The users interested to have HP Mini 1000 netbook can avail it in March 2009.
