Guj says Pak has blown the WC
Cricket-loving Gujarat has articulated concern for Sri Lanka’s cricketers who were attacked in Lahore, and expressed the gravest of reservations about Pakistan being included in any sports itinerary in the near future.
The chief of the Gujarat Cricket Association, Narhari Amin, said, “Lahore was considered to be the safest and the most progressive city of Pakistan.” He said the attack in Lahore proved that the dispensation was not in control. “I don’t think any cricket team will visit Pakistan anytime soon,” Amin said. He has visited the neighbouring country twice in the capacity of a cricket administrator. A former coach of Team India, Anshuman Gaekwad, echoed Amin’s view. “It is now unlikely that World Cup matches will be played in Pakistan,” Gaekwad said.
MK Pathan, the father of Irfan and Yusuf, focused on the human side of the ordeal. “I have interacted with Kumara Sangakkara on a few occasions,” Pathan said. “He is a thorough gentleman. I pray for his quick recovery.” The prolific Sri Lanka batsman and Irfan share the Kings XI Punjab’s dressing room.
