'GoT' wins it big at Emmys 2016

Washington D. C. [USA]. Sept 19 : 'Game of Thrones' was indeed the big winner at the Emmys 2016 as the series took home the award for 'outstanding drama series.'

Presented by former 'N. Y. P. D. Blue' stars Jimmy Smits and Dennis Franz, 'GOT' co-creator and showrunner David Benioff accepted the honour on behalf of the project, reports People Magazine.

During his acceptance speech, Benioff said, "We're standing up here because we have the best producers in the business. We have the best cast that I think has ever been assembled from Wales, England, Ireland, Scotland and from New Jersey."

Screenwriter and executive producer D. B. Weiss added, "We're standing up here because George R. R. Martin created the world we now play in."

'Game of Thrones' was up against 'The Americans,' 'Downton Abbey,' 'Better Call Saul,' 'Mr. Robot' and 'Homeland.'

The 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, aired live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. (ANI)
