A Reddit user, asjmcguire, has claimed that he noticed javascript codes for a few new options when he was poking around the source code for the Chromecast's home screen.

The source code for the home screen reported provided hints that Google could be adding a weather forecast option to the home screen, alongside some other more bespoke options than what are presently offered.

The new codes suggest that an updated Chromecast home screen would allow users to view weather and one-day forecasts. It will also likely allow users to set the screen to display personal photographs. However, the weather-hinting part of the new codes is clearer that those parts that suggest the addition of other options.

However, Google declined to confirm any such additions to Chromecast's home screen. The tech giant just said that it always make experiments with new features.

In response to a request for a comment on the report, a spokesperson for Google said, "We're always experimenting with new features, but have nothing new to announce."

Google Chromecast is a thumb-sized media streaming device that can be plugged into the HDMI port on a TV. Setting this device/ dongle up with a simple mobile app allows users to stream and enjoy their favorite online shows, movies, music and all that on TV.
