Germany's Remondis invests in Indian water company
Luenen, Germany - Remondis, a private German waste management company, said Wednesday it was buying a firm that processes waste water in India and would rename it Remondis Aqua India.
The company, Shrushti Consultants in Maharashtra state, employs 100 people. It operates 12 sewage treatment works and also supplies tap water to both homes and industry.
Remondis processes both sewage and solid waste from home and factories in Germany and operates in 24 other nations.
The new company has won a contract with Volkswagen to process highly polluted water from the German company's new car manufacturing plant at Pune, said Remondis AG & Co. KG at its head office in Luenen, Germany.
Remondis, which had annual sales in 2007 of 4.3 billion euros and expected growth in 2008, said the new unit would expand in India.(dpa)
