Government reviews preparedness for Swine FluNew Delhi, Apr 27: After keeping in view the reported human cases of Swine Influenza A (HINI) caused by a re-assorted Swine flue virus, the Government has instituted a series of preventive actions that include surveillance at Ports and International Airports.

The Health Ministry is keeping watch on the situation through Integrated Disease Surveillance units in the states and has issued travel advisory for those traveling to the affected areas to defer their plan.

They claim that the new technique helped found more of the most common bladder tumours than the traditional white-light detection method in almost 17 percent of the patients.

It also demonstrated a 22 percent relative reduction in the recurrence rate within nine months of the procedure.

The research team, led by Lockwood Taylor, MPH, of the University of Texas Health Science Centre, revealed that androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) used to increase testosterone levels can cause a variety of side effects including skeletal and cardiovascular complications, sexual dysfunction, periodontal disease, and mood disorders.

During the avian flu epidemic the drug was used heavily, particularly in South Asia.

Shares in Roche were trading at close to 145 Swiss francs (126 dollars), up over five francs since the opening.

Martina Rupp, a spokeswoman for Roche, said Tamiflu was deemed to be effective against the swine variant.
