London, Jan 19: Archaeologists have unearthed a haul of 2000-year-old Iron Age gold coins.

The 824 so-called staters were discovered through a metal detector in a broken pottery jar buried in a field near Wickham Market, Suffolk.

According to Jude Plouviez, of the Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service the coins dated from 40BC to AD15.

They are thought to be belonging to the predecessors of the Iceni Queen Boudicca.

Hong Kong  - A record 8.62 million people are expected to come in and out of Hong Kong during the Chinese New Year holiday starting at the end of this week, immigration officials said Monday.

The predicted total would be 8 per cent more than during the same period last year and would set a new record for travel numbers in and out of the former British colony at a Chinese New Year.

Around 3.2 million of the people are expected to travel between Hong Kong and China using the land border crossings which are among the world's busiest.

London, January 18 : A British woman driver managed to put her car on top of her neighbours' as she stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake.

While making a three-point turn, the woman raced her 18,000-pound B Class Mercedes onto the roof of a Chrysler Neon parked in a driveway in Ashtead, Surrey.

Robert Den-Hartog, owner of the 10,000-pound-Chrysler, was left wide-eyed when both he and his wife Claire woke up after the noise.

"I couldn''t believe my eyes why I saw what happened," the Telegraph quoted Robert as saying.

"My wife and I had tea that night and just gone to bed at about 10.30pm, tired after work and I have to get up early.

Kolkata, Jan 17: A Jet-lite aircraft carrying 38 passengers and 8 crew members landed under emergency conditions at the Kolkata airport early on Saturday after one of its engines caught fire.

The pilot of S2 361 flight going from Kolkata to Guwahati contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and sought permission to land immediately, minutes after taking off at 6:29 am.

Apparently, he had noticed the portside engine emitting smoke and fire and switched off the engine mid air to stop the fire.

Fire brigade was on standby as the aircraft landed safely two minutes after take off.

Airline sources said that the disaster was averted with the help of the pilot's presence of mind.

Srinagar, Jan 17 : After an interruption of almost a day due to heavy snowfall, the Jammu- Srinagar Highway has been opened traffic.

The 300 km Jammu- Srinagar highway which is the only surface link between the valley and the rest of the country, got blocked due to heavy snow.

Over 1200 vehicles were stuck on the highway due to heavy snowfall at Jawahir Tunnel and Patnitop and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was trying to clear the snow off the highway.

The snow is successfully cleared for travel. However, snowfall in the upper reaches is still continuing.
