London, March 9: Pharmaceutical experts are selling water from the murky English Channel to Americans as a blocked nose remedy.

Drugs company Shering-Plough claims that its Afrin PureSea Hydrating Nasal Rinse is “the only nasal rinse product made of 100 per cent purified seawater.”

The water is sourced from one of the world’s busiest shipping lane several kilometres off the coast of Saint Malo in northern France, which is surrounded by sewage works.

But the company still says that it has been proven to clear mucus, and help people breathe more easily.

London, Mar 9: One in five British adults reckon it is all right if a man physically abuses his wife or girlfriend, a new survey has revealed.

According to them, it is acceptable if she merely wears ''sexy clothes'' in public.

The survey found 14 per cent reckon blokes are justified in lashing out if a partner is ''nagging or moaning''.

And 10 per cent believe it is ok for them to hit a lover who flirts with another man.

Manila  - Four children were killed Monday when fire gutted their home south of the Philippine capital, a provincial police chief said.

Senior Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian said the victims, aged 5 to 9, were sleeping when the fire broke out in their house in Padre Garcia town in Batangas province, 90 kilometres south of Manila.

Gatchalian said the father, who survived the accident, was not able to save the children because the flames spread swiftly. The mother was not at the house at the time of the accident.

Conducted by Vanderbilt professor of law and economics Joni Hersch, the study also found that women''s salaries are negatively impacted by housework regardless of profession.

In the study, the researchers used time diary data from the American Time Use Survey, which provided detailed information on all activities performed over a 24-hour period.

In the analysis, Hersch defined housework to include activities like cleaning, cooking, childcare, pet care, house, lawn and garden maintenance, grocery shopping, and household management.

It was found that the total time expended by women on these activities was more than the time spent by men, and the bulk of women''s total housework time was spent on cleaning and cooking.

Gen. (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues, Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, has demanded a stern introspection and action oriented approach for women empowerment by executing the different Legal & legislative measures, through an institutional and responsive system.

Mr. Rodrigues also said that there is a need to launch a general awareness campaign regarding this major societal concern, and public-private partnership plans for giving equal status to women.

Cologne, Germany  - The body of a man missing in the collapse of the Cologne city archive building was recovered early Sunday under the rubble, the fire department said.

Two young men, who were believed to be in apartments in an adjacent building, had been missing since the collapse on Tuesday. The identity of the man whose remains had been found was not yet known.
