Munich - Barcelona booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday with a creditable 1-1 draw away to Bayern Munich. Barca go into the semis on an impressive 5-1 aggregate, because they thrashed Bayern 4-0 in the Camp Nou last Wednesday.

In the semi-finals Barca will meet old enemies Chelsea, who dramatically edged out Liverpool in Tuesday's other quarter-final second leg 7-5 on aggregate after the tie finished at 4-4 on the night.

Hamburg - Chelsea suffered a serious fright against Liverpool Tuesday before eventually drawing 4-4 to set up a Champions League semi-final clash with Barcelona, who progressed at the expense of Bayern Munich. Guus Hiddink's side went into the quarter-final match at Stamford Bridge holding a comfortable 3-1 lead from the first leg at Anfield but were stunned by a Fabio Aurelio free kick and Xabi Alonso penalty in the opening half hour.

Rome - The agent of troubled footballer Adriano has said that the striker has no intention of quitting playing despite his refusal to rejoin Inter Milan, Italian media reported. Gilmar Rinaldi arrived Tuesday in Milan to discuss Adriano's futuer with the Italian champions as he remained in Brazil after being in the national squad for two 2010 World Cup qualifiers at the end of March.

"I think he will resume playing," Rinaldi said. "He needs time to reflect and take a decision. He is quiet in Rio (de Janeiro) with his family. Now we wait to talk with Inter."

Berlin - Bayern Munich coach Juergen Klinsmann is seeking damages from the Berlin daily taz newspaper following a photo mock-up of him showing in a crucifixion scene, his lawyers said Tuesday. The former Germany international was shown in an Easter edition of the newspaper being crucified on the cross.

In reference to the Monty Python film Life of Brian, in which a young Jewish man is mistaken for Jesus Christ, an accompanying headline read, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" - a song from the 1979 comedy.

London - Manchester United provide five of the six candidates on the shortlist to be PFA Player of the Year, it was revealed on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, defenders Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, midfielder Ryan Giggs and winger Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the award last year, are all shortlisted, along with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

United also provide two of the players on the shortlist for Young Player of the Year, defenders Jonny Evans and Rafael da Silva.

London - Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck indicated on Monday that the club is preparing to off-load several players over the summer. Speaking at a fans' forum, he also insisted that temporary manager Guus Hiddink will leave in the summer, and said that there would be no return for former manager Jose Mourinho.

"We are expecting some players to leave this summer," Buck said. "I don't know whether it is three, four or five, and several players to come in.
