Shoaib’s absence behind Pakistan’s good performance

Karachi, Sep 19 : A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official has said that one of the reasons behind the national team’s impressive performance at the Twenty20 World Cup is the absence of trouble-making pacer Shoaib Akhtar.

Though squad stunned by the circumstances surrounding Shoaib’s exit from the team, Pakistan players took little time to recover, the official said speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Tendulkar wishes national side luck for T20 World Cup

Kolkata, Sept 18: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar today wished the Indian team luck for the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa, and hoped it would do well in the upcoming matches.

"I have been watching, it’s (Twenty20 format) fantastic. The team has done well. It is just the last match that wasn't the result we wanted, but the tournament is still wide open, and I am confident the team will do well," Tendulkar told reporters at a function to promote the Kolkata Open WTA event here.

Mohammad Asif confident about getting Sehwag’s wicket early

Durban: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif has said that he is well aware of the weaknesses of India‘s swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag, and he would try to get rid of the Delhi player early when the two sides meet in a Group D match of the Twenty20 World Championship here later today.

Aiming to continue the psychological advantage he has been enjoying over Sehwag for the last two years, Asif said, “I know his weaknesses very well, and I want to exploit them yet again.”
