Fresh controversy for Amitabh in UP

Amitabh BachchanControversy continues to chase Amitabh Bachchan in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Close on the heels of AB’s announcement of building a college in the name of his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai in Barabanki, Avnindra Singh, son of Rajkumari Singh, gram pradhan of Daulatpur village in Barabanki, gave a written complaint in the Mohammadpur Khala police station of Barabanki accusing the superstar of committing fraud.

Singh has argued that the Big B after promising to donate the gram samaj land on which the college was proposed had reneged on his promise and decided to give it to Nishthaa Foundation owned by filmstar-turned-Rampur-MP Jayaprada to construct a college.

DIG/SSP Barabanki Alok Singh confirmed that a complaint has been made against the Big B. “We would be looking into the legality of the issue before deciding on the FIR,” he told HT. He said after consulting the district magistrate of Barabanki a committee would be formed to examine the issue. “We would initiate action only after verifying all the aspects,” Singh said.

In the complaint it has been alleged that on July 5, 2007 AB through one Vinay Shukla had given a letter to Rajkumari Singh donating 2 bigha 5 biswa, 9 biswansi of land to the gram samaj. On July 12, 2007 the gram sabha of Daulatpur village gave its consent. The complainant claimed that ever since AB didn’t get back to them and it was learnt that on October 23 through one Rishikesh Yadav had got a gift deed of the land registered in the name of Devendra Kumar, secretary of Nishthaa Foundation.

Thus the complainant has argued that Bachchan committed fraud, first promising to donate the land to the gram samaj and then going back on his words of donating it.
