Florida Experiences Unprecedented cases of Spice Overdose
St. Petersburg police have received around 21 calls reporting incident of spice overdose since Thursday night. Spice, synthetic marijuana, created havoc after people consumed it were severely affected and admitted to a hospital’s emergency rooms. The local police referred the series of events as unprecedented and right from the zombie movies.
The police have been dealing with growing number of complaints by people who had witnessed people in stupefied states, in which they could not talk and walk. The officials have blamed synthetic marijuana overdose for the ordeal. The people have also complained of unusual behavior displayed by several folks, who looked as they have lost their minds and were found dangerously high and in need of doctors.
The investigators suspect that the incidents are similar to a series of recent cases in Tampa in which many of the users were unaware of ingredients in their drugs that were changed by spice manufacturers. The people affected with overdose are in areas near the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, near Fourth Avenue N and 15th Street.

“We have noticed a serious uptick of Spice incidents lately that have turned into medical calls and it has become a serious drain on resources for the police department for the fire department and then in turn for doctors say at Morton Plant Hospital where the patients end up”, said police spokesman Rob Shaw.
The investigators are awaiting results that would clear whether Spice is responsible for this growing number of complications. They are also little sure even before results will come out that Spice overdose must has turned people aggressive as there have been other similar cases reported in other parts of Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The overdose caused reactions ranging from vomiting to seizures and loss of consciousness to patients.
