Flood-hit UP villagers migrating due to administrative apathy
Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh), Oct. 8 : Land erosion caused by the recent floods in Uttar Pradesh and administrative apathy have compelled several residents of Mudadiha Village in Faizabad District to abandon their homes and land.
The glairing administrative apathy in the wake of floods has left the villagers fearful about their future.
According to the villagers, the officials are not bothered with their repeated pleas for help.
"We had everything to sustain our lives till the floods eroded the land. That’s why we are leaving. This has been happening for three years. The Government does not give us any kind of help," rued Vishwambhar, a resident of Mudadiha village.
"Every year there are floods in the village. There are more than 1200 people in this area. We are dismantling our houses. The Government has not taken any initiative to control the floods and the erosion of lands. We demanded land from the government but it did not grant anything to us," said Ramehara, another resident.
"We get little help from the Government, but it is not enough. No one cares to hear our distress calls and visit this place," adds Geetadevi.
Over 2,000 households in Mudadiha have been shattered by this natural calamity. (ANI)
