Fake California Doctor out on Bail

A Californian man is out on bail after facing accusations for prescribing medicines to patients without holding a legal degree for that. He was accused of illegally practicing medicine and giving expired medications to desperate cancer patients.

Vincent Gammill, 69, was arrested, in early July after investigators in Ventura County, California, found that he was practicing medicine without a license and providing expired medications for cancer treatment.

He allegedly gave powders, liquids and instructions on how to mix compounds to patients. One patient was even given a baggie of dirt.

On raiding his treatment center at his home, officials found 25,000 prescription pills. Authorities said these included morphine, Ambien, steroids and other drugs of Mexican and Russian origin.

The matter was brought to investigators by a patient with late-stage cancer who paid Gammill $2,000 for 16 hours of consultation and treatment. The California woman saw the work of Gammill online. She was impressed with his work and was following it since 2008 when she was detected with breast cancer.

She couldn't stop herself from consulting Gammill after her breast cancer spread to her brain, lungs and bones.

The woman has so far only been identified as Fern. "Cancer patients are very vulnerable because there isn't a cure and when you're getting further down the line you get desperate", Fern said.

Gammill allegedly gave her a mysterious powder and oil that fern said caused burning in her stomach, which Gammill said was a good sign as the ingredients were still active, the police said in their report.

Fern soon realized that something was seriously wrong, and approached the police. The police heard from Gammill that he had some kind of degree in science, but Gammill later changed the statement and admitted that he held nothing more than a high school diploma.
