Facebook moves to 'Places'
After making a lot of noise in the global social networking industry, Facebook has now turned its head towards a new localization services called "Places".
While the application allows users to share their location with their friends, it is also capable of telling friends that which of their friends are at the same place or if they have ever “checked in” there before.
There is no denying that this service has prompted security fears in the past as well, but it is surely gaining acceptability among the users. But the pace of acceptability is surely low.
It is to be mentioned here that the app is a voluntary service which the user can use so that the friends in his circle are aware of the location.
Moreover, it may be noted here that the application has recently went live in Britain.
The CEO and Founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the app in the headquarters of the company in California. Facebook product manager Michael Sharon said that as the social network is a place to share information with people, the new app is a right step in the same direction.
