Elton John launches crystal-laden iPods for charityWashington, Feb 2: Sir Elton John is apparently one person who does charity in style, for the legendary singer has launched a limited run of crystal-encrusted iPods to raise funds for his AIDS charity.

The `Sacrifice' hitmaker personally supervised the production of 1,000 of the fittingly flamboyant devices.

The music players, prized at 584 dollars, also features the 61-year-old singer's signature lasered on the back.

"Elton does not usually put his name to a product but this is exactly he kind of thing he loves. It''s extravagant and glamorous just like him," Contactmusic quoted a spokesman for the star as saying.

He added: "And, as everyone knows, his AIDS charity is very close to his heart."

And according to reports, a good percentage of the profits from the devices will go to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The charity has raised over 145 million dollars to educate and care for people living with HIV/AIDS since its inception in 1992. (ANI)
