Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed that only the Heads of State, including the Chief Minister, Speaker and the Chief Justice were entitled to the escort vehicles. This would require about 50 police personnel and shall be made available from Mohali police station. ADGP handed a list of around eight persons from whom the security shall be withdrawn.

The security guards of Akali workers Amrik Singh of Mohali, Jasbir Singh, SGPC member Hardeep Singh and Sapna Sethi has already been withdrawn.

"We have withdrawn security of some people mentioned in the list. All security personnel will be called back and positioned at various police departments," said Jatinder Singh Aulakh, SSP, Mohali.

He further said, "Extra force will help in maintaining the law and order. Police stations facing the shortage of staff will now be provided additional cops."

He added, "We are reviewing how many personnel should be deployed with people facing life threat. Extra and needless security will be withdrawn." Setting a precedent for the others to follow, Aulakh has also given up his security cover. "I have returned six police personnel who will be deployed at police stations across the district".
