Eagles advances into second round
Eagles has booked their berth in the second round of the T20 Champions League as they defeated Sussex in an interesting match at the Kotla Stadium, New Delhi on Tuesday.
Sussex skipper M Yardy won the toss and elected to bat first on a very slow and turning track. Sussex scored just 119 runs for loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sussex batsmen failed to resist against Eagles' bowling attack. J Gatting was top scorer for Sussex who scored 25 runs in 22 balls.
E Joyce contributed 21 runs before getting run out by de Villiers. D Preez and C de Villiers took two wickets each for Eagles. Chasing target of 120 runs, Eagles also finished their inning at 119 runs for four wickets in 20 overs to tie the match. R Rossouw played brilliantly and he scored 65 runs in 62 balls. The winner of the match was selected through Super Over.
Eagles scored 9 runs for loss of 1 wicket in the Super Over. C de Villiers took two wickets in the first two balls as Sussex lost the match with score of 0 runs for loss of 2 wickets in the Super Over.
