Dismissed Venkatesh Joins BJP
In a significant move, dismissed member of the National Commission for Women (NCW) Nirmala Venkatesh on Thursday joined the BJP in Bangalore.
BJP’s Karnataka Unit Mahila Morcha general secretary Mangala Sridhar admitted Venkatesh into the party.
Confirming the development, Mangala Sridhar said, “Nirmala has been admitted into the BJP and will campaign for the party in the parliamentary poll to expose the Congress.”
However, no top leader from BJP was present when she joined the party at its office.
Venkatesh said that if being given a ticket, she was ready to contest the elections for the party. She also said that in the coming days she would also expose the Congress.
It can be recalled that Venkatesh was removed recently from the NCW after her submission of a report to the Union government after probing the attack on girls at a pub in Mangalore. She asserted that the political motives led the Central Government to reject her report on Mangalore Pub incident. As a result, she resigned from the Congress.
On Feb 28, she met L.K. Advani (BJP PM Candidate) at a rally in the city.
Venkatesh was formerly a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council.
