Cow's Milk Is Good For Newborn Babies: Study

Cow's Milk Is Good For Newborn Babies: StudyA new study has said that moms who feed their newborns cow's milk during the first 15 days of life may be defending their babies from hazardous allergies later.

Prof. Yitzhak Katz of Tel Aviv University''s Department of Pediatrics, Sackler Faculty of Medicine stated, "Women who regularly (daily) introduced their babies to cow milk protein early, before 15 days of life, almost completely eliminated the incidence of allergy to cow milk protein in their babies."

The researchers said that infants on a cow milk diet during the first 15 days were almost fully protected from having Cows Milk Protein Allergy (CMA).

CMA can lead to rashes, respiratory troubles, shock and even fatality.

Even though the accurate quantity is still unidentified, the paediatrician suggested that a single bottle-feed during night for those mothers who are lactating.

The study also disclosed that three-to-five month period is the most awful time to expose a baby to cow's milk.

If not exposed previously, he suggests waiting until the child is one year old to introduce cow''s milk into the diet.

The results of the study are released in a recent issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. (With Inputs from Agencies)
